Health and Wellness Coach

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University with honours and a Master of Science degree from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington. My graduate research resulted in several publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have worked as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. My work at NIH was in the field of epigenetics – the study of how the environment affects gene expression.

With an interest in maintaining optimal health, I began investigating how nutrition plays a role in our gene expression (how well our body works to stay healthy). I furthered my nutrition knowledge as a scientific researcher at an Integrative Health Practice for over five years. Here I investigated the scientific literature making connections on how food and supplements can heal the body.

I am a certified nutrition coach and I continue to stay updated on the latest nutrition trends by attending Nutrigenomic and Integrative Health Conferences. Currently, I am enrolled in a Nutritional Therapist Program with the Nutritional Therapy Association. I am passionate about helping individuals maximize their health whether it is a high-level athlete looking to optimize their performance or an individual wanting to improve their overall energy and fitness.

I am a recipient of the Department of Commerce 2007 Silver Medal for Leadership and I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa. I fuel my passions by working out, enjoying nature, travelling and spending time with my husband and son.
